Hey! Well... I'm a nooby mac user... and have been having problems viewing videos from websites, such as myspace.com / ifilm and things like previews for movies and stuff.

Does anyone have any suggestions on web browsers that perform as fast as safari that would play these clips?

Its frustrating because on my PC, I obviously never had this problem. I'm sure that there's a way to fix this though... I just dont quite know how....

Please help!

Thanks for your time.

there are some things that you simply will not be able to play because there are many different ways to encode video and not all of them have a decoder for the mac. That said you should be able to play most things. You need to get a few different players and some extra codecs.

flip 4 mac (above) will let quicktime player play wmv files. it may require MS Media Player to be installed first:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...9/default.aspx

you may also want the latest version of RealPlayer
real.com

also get VLC to play just about everything else.

No, it doesn't. Don't install that piece of crap. It's discontinued by Microsoft.

You may want to install the DivX codec in addition to Flip4Mac.

OK, good. It really is crap. I particularly like the mandatory waiting period between the time you hit the pause button and when it actually pauses.

You know I was going to mention that but I was just looking at the divx site and it seems they want money now. Even to simply view content. Screw 'em.

The playback is still free, but they little bit hide this fact, probably to try to get more people paying. If you don't like them (and they are a dubious company that's for sure), you can alternatively use the 3ivx codec to play DivX videos in QuickTime player.

If you buy Flip4Mac than the video will play all the way through in your web browser, wheras, the trial/demo only gives you have the video. This has been frustrating when trying to watch a friend's video on myspace.com. You should not have any trouble with Google video because they use Quicktime(I think).
I have Windows Media Player 7 and video and audio works fine. I reccommend downloading MPlayer 2 from http://www.versiontracker.com if you want to view video on your HD.

Not true any more. Playback in Flip4Mac is free since several weeks now.
