Remembering icon positions on desktop

Hi, is there a file or some preference list that remembers the position of the files on the desktop? I need to be able to restore icons from a folder to the desktop, but I want them to remember the geometric position on the desktop.

To remember the icons position on the desktop… I think that SwitchResX can do it.
