New to using OS X,
I've noticed that when I search for library
I have two folders that say so
One is from Macintosh HD
the other is my user name

Whats strange is that some internet plugins I have installed is installed only to Macintosh HD and not to my own user name one

anyone know whats going on?

Stuff in the Library folder at the root of the hard disk works for all users, stuff in the Library folder in your user folder will only work for that one user.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

You have three, actually.

/System/Library (system files)
/Library (files that apply to all users)
/Users/YourName/Library (files that apply to just your user)

Yeah, and there's also /Network/Library. Realistically, though, /Library and /Users/you/Library are the only ones you need to worry about.

I don't seem to have a /Users/you/Library folder, should I be worried?
[12:31 PM mithras@macbook: mithras] ls /Users/you/Library
ls: /Users/you/Library: No such file or directory

sorry.

because, of course, it should be:

Users/Me/Library

Yes, this means you should reformat your hard drive immediately. Make sure you don't back up the cookie containing your password on this board first.
