when i turn on my pb12, osx loads fine, but a lot of the menu items i have, including spotlight, dont load. the clock doesnt show, menumeters doesn't show, the battery meter doesnt load. the only three things that do load are virtue, gmail checker(which i disabled, but it still loads), and menu calendar.

the box to "show in menu bar" for the clock wasn't checked, but when i did click it, it still didnt come up. when i did the same for menumeters it said "could not load".

i repaired the permissions, but that didn't work. everything was working fine this morning. when i turned it on just a little while ago, i had this problem.

any ideas?

i've found some other problems:

clicking on the security button in sys prefs causes sys prefs to close. the same goes for the sound button.

when i put in a blank cd-r, i get a message "this disc cannot be recognized"

the battery meter doesnt show either.

You have a problem with SystemUIServer and SecurityServer. I would do an Archive and Install of the OS.

would that require me to back up all of my files first, or is it comparable to a windows repair.

weird...

i found a possible fix that says to delete or rename the search.bundle, and a restart will rebuild the file, fixing the problem. the file is supposed to be in the coreservices folder.

i did a search for the file and folder, which should be in the library...but they are not there. is this what the problem is? or are they just hidden?

nvm, i found out the problem was caused by the front row enabler. I downloaded the update on top of the previous version i had, which was causing systemuiserver to crash.

and disregard the last question...im a moron.
