Hi,

I'm using my brother's Mac (because my PC failed) and I need to copy some files from one external hard drive to another. They both came up on the screen OK, but when I tried to copy the files over, I got a message saying:

"The item could not be moved because "New Volume" cannot be modified."

When I go to 'Get Info', it says 'You can only read' under 'Ownership & Permissions'.

I tried starting up with just the empty external hard drive attaced and the same thing happened.

Please can someone tell me how to change this, so that I can copy stuff to my external drive?

Thanks,
Joe

NTFS volumes are read-only on Mac OS X.
