Maybe it's just me, but I find OS X a little shotty with it's mice. I had a PPC Mac mini a while back, using a mighty mouse, and it would randomly jump across the screen from time to time. I'm using my iMac now and it does the same thing, using my mighty mouse and a logitech mx600.

I'm assuming this is merely a software related issue, seeing as how my mice are fine under windows on my iMac. But does anybody have a fix?

I don't use a mousepad, but the desk i'm using is, i think, oak, with a non-reflective finish so i can't see that being the issue.

1. Peripherals questions go in the Peripherals forum, please.

2. I'm gonna bet your desk is fake oak veneer. Printed veneers have a repeating dot pattern that confuses optical mice. Try a sheet of blank white paper as a mouse mat and see if the problem goes away.
