When I put a DVD in to my FrontRow iMac, it automatically opens DVD player. Fair enough, but why doesn't use Front Row? I can't select FrontRow in the System Prefs box that sets what happens when you put a DVD in, and can't select it as an application to launch as it's invisible to Spotlight.

It's not that much of a big deal, but with DVD player, when you press Menu on the Apple Remote it opens FrontRow instead of going to the DVD's menu! What is the point of having a DVD player in FrontRow if the only way you can get to it is by quitting DVD player and starting over?

Try this, it may work:

In System Preferences, go to "CDs and DVDs". Click on the popup next to "When you insert a video DVD", select "Open Other Application". You then have to navigate to Your HD/System/Library/CoreServices/Front Row.app. Select it, close sys prefs and see what happens!
