I know now that Apple is dropping support for my old dual 450. Which means it won't be easy to find spare parts. But does that also mean that 10.5 won't run on it?

Noone knows, but likely not. Could be that they drop the G3s, but I think G4s are safe for now.

I think it will be more dependent on video cards over CPU.

Support is being dropped for these (according to Macbidouille):

- iBook (FireWire)
- PowerBook (FireWire)
- iMac 350 MHz
- iMac 400 MHz DV
- iMac 400 MHz DV (Special Edition)
- iMac (Summer 2000)
- iMac (Summer 2000) DV
- iMac (Summer 2000) DV Plus
- iMac (Summer 2000) DV Special Edition
- Macintosh Server G4 (AGP Graphics)
- Macintosh Server G4 (Gigabit Ethernet)
- Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics)
- Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet)

Time to upgrade BU15AP!

But yeah, I'd like to know too why specific hardware is being dropped. It can't be Quartz Extreme, since many Macs which don't support Quartz Extreme are still going to be supported.

Interestingly, my Cube isn't on the list of those being dropped, despite the fact that it was released the same day as the Gigabit Ethernet Power Macs.

I think Steve is still secretly in love with it. He did say it was the coolest product Apple has ever come out with.

That list had BETTER be made up. My G4/Digital Audio is still chugging along just fine.

Good, cuz all that list means is you can't get replacement parts from Apple.

Whew! I'm hoping to get at least 10 more years out of the thing!
