I was playing World of Warcraft last night and got a kernel panic. I haven't had one since last year when I had Norton Utilities installed. I decided to reboot and run a backup. Another kernel panic.

Should I be concerned, provided that it doesn't happen again when I am not using WoW?
How can I look at the log to see what may have caused it? Is is possible to know what caused it?
What should I look for in the future (just in case), if this is hardware- (and not software) related?
Is there anything that I should do right now?
Any tests that I can run?
Anything that I can look at?

Also, I had two FireWire drives connected. Is my data OK after a kernel panic (I rarely disconnect drives without ejecting them)?

Thanks to anyone who can provide a little help.

Check out Resolving Kernel Panics at the Xlab. Also download kpdecode. It'll help you decode the kernel panic logs.

Thanks. I'll check them out. I have a feeling it might be my new RAM, though, so I just sent it back and asked for a replacement module. I was using PC3200, instead of PC2700, which I ordered. I didn't notice the fine print on the RAM module itself when I installed it. Worked fine, for everything except the game. Going to test things with the old RAM module back in place and see how it goes.
