I've got my dock on the right side of my screen, at a fairly large size. when new icons are created on the desktop, they are lined up pretty close to the right side of the screen, and thus at least 50% of the icon is covered by the dock which makes the icon harder to hit. is there anything that I can do that will create a 'wall' or border on the desktop that won't allow new icon creation past that point?

only things you can do:
•use a smaller (thinner) dock
•place it somewhere else
•use larger icons (view options)
•move the icons to the left (check that "click to grid" is unchecked in view options)

not sure there's anything else..

anyone?

hmm making the icons big is a reasonable option. sucks that it can't spread the icons out over the desktop and remember them. I'll try that out and see how it goes.

I think -haven't tried it- that SwitchRes X lets you keep the icons at the left margin 'by default', don't know if that helps you.
