anyone else think this is a feature the finder should have?

let's say i use color labels to organize a project. when i create a new document and save it in the project's folder, i have to go hunt for it and label it by hand. if i could choose a label right out of the save dialogue, it would save me an extra step.

Yes. I also think you should be able to set the file's permissions.

No, I don't think so. The Finder does not save files.

It would be nice though, if you could specify a label and the "Spotlight comment" in the save dialog of applications. Not permissions. That is Unix stuff I don't want to be bothered with.

I don't want to be bothered with redundant comments and labels, but hey, I wouldn't object to having those there, since it seems more logical than having to create the file and immediately go modify it.

Being a new Mac user I find labels really cool… they even solved some issue I have downloading files and not showing the right size & file icon, once I apply a label to such file the icon and file are shown.

Then, "Spotlight comment"… they are even cooler!, I have found an shortcut on them to delete the file, select the Sporlight comment, press Command + Backspace and your file is deleted.

Let me ask about Spotlight comment… sometimes I send a mail with no text, just a picture… then later I wish I had placed some text as message since I want to locate that mail and I think about "An Image is Worth a Thousand Words…" oh really?

Would be OK adding a Spotlight comment to the picture sent?, if I do a search inside Mail about such text, would it be really found based on its Spotlight comment?

Actually, command-delete will delete a file anytime you have that file selected. You can see the command and its shortcut in the Finder's File menu.
