I'm having a problem with something I used to do with Panther quite OK, but in Tiger it just won't work.

Since I am bilingual and write a lot in two languages I need to occasionally switch off "Check speling as you type" function. But then again I need it on later. So what I did in Panther was to create keyboard shortcut Shift-Cmnd-S that would toggle spellcheck on and off. And it worked fine.

But in Tiger it's not the case. What I've noticed today is funny at least. Say I'm writing a mail and I want to turn off the spellcheck (as you type) I right-click somewhere, hover over spelling and without going over with the mouse ppointer anywhere near the next menu list (where I would normally select "Check Spelling as You Type" if I do Shift-Cmnd-S then it works. But when I do it without using the mouse nothing hapens.

Anyone has an idea how this could be fixed ?
