A command line which works in dos is
"mcnpx inp=testfile"

In mac unix I say "open mcnpx inp=testfile" but i get an error saying inp=testfile does not exist
testfile is the input data for mcnpx?

What should I do?

Omit the 'open' command. Assuming you've successfully compiled and installed the radioactive particle simulation software you seem to be talking about, just type 'mcnpx inp=testfile' directly. open is for opening graphical applications or documents.
