PowerMac G5
OSX 10.4.6
Processor: Dual 1.8 ghz
2 GB Ram

ok, here's my question.

i have a new 250gb disk that i want to p lug into my mac and give my old 120gb (current) to another mac. is there a way i can copy over all my data to the brand new drive? i want all my settings to stay in tact so i won't have to install a ton of program.

if anyone can help me with this i'll truly appreciate it. i did a search but didn't find anything to this specific question.

thanks.

Yes, cloning apps like SuperDuper and CCC can do it, I use SuperDuper, it is well easy.

Isn't there also a way to do it off the 10.3 (and maybe others) disc, if you boot off it?

The Restore tab in Disk Utility works just fine to clone a drive, and you can do that just from the install disc.

You can use the free version of SuperDuper. Can't go wrong. Then after you see how easily it works, buy the full featured version that does the quick backups for your long term needs. SD is truly one of the great apps out there from a very responsive developer.
