okay. so i open up a file that i have been working on for a few months now, (it's a catalog)
i have about 5 or 6 other folders that contain all of the images. well, today the computer says "i'm missing about 90 image files"

somehow, somewhere, a whole folder is missing completely from my computer. i don't remember deleting it. and i'm sure i didn't delete it.

is there anyway to find out what happend to it? some sort of deleting history? or maybe it is hidden/invisible for some reason?

Have you tried searching for the names of any of the files? And does anyone else have access to your computer? I've had people accidentally delete things on me before. (That's big part of the reason I'm so big on multiple users now.)

yes, i've tried searching for one of the files and it says it's no where.

i am connected to a network but i don't think anyone can access my computer. i'm on a mac while everyone else is on pc's. i believe that my computer is locked.

i just realized that 2 more of the folders are missing as well! i know for SURE that these were not deleted. why would the computer delete certain folders? anymore ideas???

OS X would not delete your files. What software is your project in? I've had MS Office programs delete my files before.

You might also want to verify your disk with Disk Utility, and check its SMART status if it supports it.

did you by any chance delete any pics in that folder prior to losing the whole folder?
what i've noticed is that you have to be extra careful using the Command-Delete combo. it's really easy to (unknowingly) hit delete twice - and there goes the parent folder!!!!!
seems like the system/finder should wait a second or two before accepting any new delete commands.
i've lost quite a few files doing that! i guess it pays to poke around in the trash before emptying it...

cheers
