My brother-in-law is going to pick up a new MacBook, but there's one problem. Currently on his G5 he's running several test generators and other non-intensive programs in Classic emulation. So I need to know:

Can Classic run through Rosetta?

Has anyone tried the virtualization program that lets you run Windows apps inside OSX? These programs are not real demanding, like I said. At the most they may need to run some animations or video clips. Think that $50 package (can't remember the name) would be fine?

Thanks in advance for the feedback, Mac gurus.

Ok, I'd never heard of that...now from what I'm reading about SheepShaver, I would need to scare up a copy of OS 9? That, um, might be tricky.

First one is easy, no. Classic will not run on a Mactel, under rosetta or natively.
Second one is also easy. Check out the alternative operating system forum here. There's an application called parallels that does just what your asking. Its still in beta but looks very promising.

Yes, but you also need OS 9 to run Classic, so that's no different. From what I hear, Sheepshaver isn't so simple to set up, though.

And no, Classic can't run on Intel Macs.
