Hi All,

I've got a hard drive with 56Gb of assorted data on it, but Spotlight/Find can't, well, find anything that is there.

I can certainly open the data, and I can of course see it, but Spotlight can't. How come?

Oh, and I've checked to see if I manually prevented Spotlight from seeing into that HD. That's not where the problem is.

Any suggestions?

Chas

Spotlight doesn't look into certain system folders.

Thanks for replying TETENAL.

Good to know, but the folder in question is at the root of the drive (not in a System folder or System Folder)

Cheers,

Might be worth trying to add the drive to the spotlight exclude list and then removing it straight away which will re-index the drive.

Is it an external FW or USB drive?

Good suggestion, I"ve done so (hope it works).

It's an internal drive, by the way.

under the spotlight menu, does it tell you that it's indexing?

Yes, thanks for pointing that out (I was wondering how I'd know...)

Cool, it should work fine once that's finished.

Much appreciated!

Any idea how Spotlight lost track of an entire drive?
