I have just bought a G4 powermac with ubuntu (linux os) runnin, and wish to install my tiger 10.4 osx. i cant seem to get my mac to run the dvd install disc.
I have a dvd drive in the machine, and have checked it with other dvd install discs and no joy.
i know the drive works, as i had it in my p.c!
Any help on this would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

THats what i intend to do! only i think i need to wipe the drive prior to me runnin the install dvd disc.
When i run install disc, it gets me up to "select destination drive" but it displays no hard disc to install the mac osx to!
On page 6 of the install book, it shows a pic, with hard drives displayed in the window. my screen doesnt show anything. i presume its cos of my ubuntu i have installed on it
It shows with my nortons systemworks disc, that my drive is "locked"?!?!
Its bugging me now! as i have my tiger 10.4 ready to go!
Thanks to you all! much appreciated!

It should show the drive and then give you the option to format it. If not try launching Disk Utility from the Utilities menu of the Installer. In Disk Utility select the drive and format as "HFS Extended (Journaled)". Quit Disk Utility and you should be back in the Installer and able to continue with the OS installation.
