Support for HDDs with flash memory cache in OS X?

Seagate is offering a 160 GB 2,5" notebook disk drive with 256 MB of flash memory. Judging by this press release, OS support will be necessary to make (full?) use of this extra cache, and it will be supported by Windows Vista.
This technology is supposed to offer power savings, faster harddrives and shorter boot/resume times, and that's something any laptop user yearns for. I can't remember seeing anything about OS X and this type of cache - anyone else?
Intel talked about something similar earlier this year - "Robson" cache technology. It seems the concept is similar, but as this was running on Windows XP and no modifications of the OS are mentioned, it might be less OS dependant?
I'm buying a MacBook now - it would be nice to replace the 80 GB drive with a 120 GB drive that is faster and consumes less power when those are available - if OS X can make use of it...
Hope someone here has got some insight on this topic.

I imagine Apple will support these sorts of drives sooner or later. Any idea how much the seagate is going to cost?

Depends on whether Seagate was smart, like Apple, & pre-purchased huge bulk quantities of NAND memory ahead of time or not.......
if they did, then the drives should be reasonably priced.
Otherwise it's hard to tell how much the flash memory will cost them, and how much of that cost they will pass on to the consumer.........

My read says the drive will work with OS X out of the box. The OS dependency relates to the cache being preloaded for wake from sleep or boot oriented code and performs as regual cache in normal operation.

Well, that's the question. I interpreted it as "will use the 256 MB NAND cache if OS supports it, otherwise works like any drive with 8 MB of ordinary cache". Hopefully you're right, and those 256 MB will be used by the drive just like any other cache if there is no particular OS support for sleep or booting.
