I installed a file in .pkg format. Now I want to get rid of it but unfortunately it didn't come with an uninstaller. So I open up the .pkg file in /Library/Receipts and then choose File/Show files and this is what it shows:

.
./._libiidplg.dylib.4.1.12
./.DS_Store
./classes.nib
./CpMac
./iid.4.1.12
./iid.conf
./iid.ico
./iidxcard.bmp
./iidxpos.bmp
./iidxsith.bmp
./iidxtel.bmp
./info.nib
./libiid.dylib.4.1.12
./libiidgui.dylib.4.1.12
./libiidp11.dylib.4.1.12
./libiidplg.dylib.4.1.12
./npiidplg.xpt
./objects.nib
./Post
./Post/.DS_Store
./Post/postflight
./version
I really don't get that much info out of it. I.e what files are safe to remove? That CpMac file seems to be a file that is in /Developer/Tools and seems pretty important. Also where are the files located?

I.e when I checked the receipt for the boot camp assistant at least I get a folder path where it's installed:

.
./Applications
./Applications/Utilities
./Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app
./Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app/Contents
./Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app/Contents/Info.plist
./Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app/Contents/MacOS
Anyone with some bright ideas?

iidsetup.pkg

Some Net iD that I downloaded to use with digital id on my computer. But it didn't work out the way it was supposed to work out.

Shameless plug: if you look at the package with Pacifist (link in my sig), you can see the exact path where those files will be installed. Just Get Info on the file, or you can just add the path onto the Default Install Location in your head.

Googling for iidsetup and libiid didn't turn anything up, so I can't tell you for sure, but my guess is that you should be able to safely delete all the files that have "iid" in their name as they seem to be part of the third-party software being installed. CpMac is indeed part of the Apple Developer Tools, and although it won't harm your system to delete it, you should still keep it around. I'm not sure about the other stuff.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
