So tonight I started on my efforts to compile wine on my macbook. After patching the configure file in order to ignore the native opengl drivers, I finished the compile with a fontforge error. It said it couldn't find fontforge. I downloaded Fink and installed the binary, tho the problem persisted. I simply ignored it and ran make for wine.
I am now waiting for make to finish. Will let you all know.
