So I'm thinking of getting a new iMac, as you get more for your money with desktop and I'll still have my trusty G3 iBook for when I'm on the move.
Can anyone suggest a way to keep files on these two machines sync'd automatically, or will this have to be done by hand? I would have thought Apple would have come up with some sort of ingenious solution by now - after all, I ca't be the first person ever to have owned more than one Mac at the same time...

I use ChronoSync for all my documents. It is pretty straightforward to set up and cheap.

For calendars, bookmarks, address book etc. I use .Mac but I think ChronoSync would do this too. I just like to have it backed up and available from the web interface if I need to use a PC or I'm away from my Mac.

OS 9 used to have something which I think was called Folders Synchroniser but this never made it to OS X. Shame.
