Hi all. I have a powermac g4/400 (gigabit) and am trying to install os 10.3 over 10.2. When i double-click the "install os x" on disk 1, it tells me to restart and when it does, it goes to a white screen that has a message on it. the message is "Default Catch! code=900 at (next line) Welcome to Open Firmware...." etc. etc. I have firmware 4.2.8f1. there is also a message on the screen that says type "mac-boot" to restart; when i do, it restarts and then freezes when it gets to the greyish apple start screen.

i have 640mb ram, if that helps.

any ideas?

try this:

go into Open firmware (Apple + Alt + O + F on startup).
when you get to the white screen with "Welcome to open firmware."
type "reset nvram" press return,
and then type "reset all"
it should restart. try installing again after that.
