Walmart had a Maxtor 320gig (298 NTFS formatted) external drive on clearance ($99), was new in the box so I picked it up.

Since OSX cannot write to an NTFS drive I'll have to reformat it. Whats the max size of an HFS+ partition?

Petabytes or more I believe.

HFS max volume size is 16 EB (17179869184 GB), so you should be fine.
