I had Xdarwin installed on Jaguar (darwin 6.8) and all was working fine until i decided to try to upgrade to GTK+2. i tried installing it with fink and it was all going well until fink decided that it had to reinstall Xfree86 without (somehow without my permission...). When fink was unpacking the x11 packages it stopped responding. So now i have a slight problem - The Xdarwin app is still there, but because of the differences between Xdarwin and fink's copy of x11, xdarwin won't work. And the same goes for when i try to startx from the console (no errors printed - just sends me straight to loginwindow.app).
Now, X11 is really just a hobby - i have a fully functioning OS X and i love it, but i've always been an open source enthusiast and i love the idea of being able to choose which gui i wanna use. So does anyone know of a way i can get Xdarwin up and running again - maybe by fixing some links that x11 broke - or do i have to remove everything (WMs, FMs, Desktop, Apps, X11) and do a fresh install?
