i have an iso image i burned using disk utility. i can see the proper folders on the dvd, so i know the info is there. when i hold down the C key the dvd doesnt boot. any ideas what might be wrong?

You didn't burn it correctly.

Go buy OS X

I'll be silly and assume that you are trying to boot Linux and not some dodgy copy of OS X.

Try holding Option (Alt) down at startup, you then get a menu, and can chose the boot media.
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

Right. Now, try booting the computer holding the alt (option) key and select the cd from the boot manager.

I only get the option to boot the hd, and i have burned the iso three times. i am going to pay for the cd's from ubuntu.

Are you sure you downloaded a version that was supposed to be bootable on your machine?

what computer are you using? what ubuntu ver.? i have some ubunt disks. i gotta try getting it to work on my Beige G3. (see http://www.kick52.com/Uploads/OtherComs.html )

i finally found a ubuntu forum and the problem is with the ubuntu software. seems it will be about two months before this is fixed.
