I want to perform software updates on my Mac G4. When I try, I get a window that pops up every 20 minutes or so saying 'Internet Connect - do you want to stay connected?' or something to that effect. If i don't click 'Yes', it cuts off my internet connection. Of course, with dial-up, it takes hours to do software updates so I want to run them overnight without babysitting the computer but the 'Internet Connect' dialog box cuts the connection off. Is there a way to choose NOT to have the 'Internet Connect' dialog box pop up? Please email me direct at: Italian2Go@aol.com. Thanks!

Open up the System Preferences app. Click on the Network icon. In the box, you should have “Internal Modem” highlighted. Click on Configure. At this point, the PPP tab should be highlighted. Click on PPP Options. The second checkbox down says Prompt every __ minutes to maintain connection. De-select that checkbox, then click OK. Once that sheet slides back up, click on Apply Now, and you’ll be done.
