Some of the kexts listed in System Profiler are referred to as "Pseudoextensions." A few of these on my G5 are "AppleOnboardAudio" "ApplePlatformFamily" "Mach" "Mach6.0" "System" "System6.0". . . So, these kexts obviously do not do anything - given the name - but what are they around for? Are they stub extensions that only serve to categorize and separate the various classes of kexts? Are they there to fool older drivers into continuing to function? Anyone know?
