Despite setting "Automatic hide and show the Dock" to on in System Preferences the dock frequently refuses to appear.

How can I fix this? Am using 10.4.7 on an Intel machine...........

Have you repaired disk permissions? This usually fixes funky issues like this for me.

If you have, what else have you done to troubleshoot?

Didn't mange to fix it so did a re-install of the system which did!

Sheesh -- next time, just likk the dock in the Terminal, or Activity Monitor. It was probably just hung.
