I am working with a G4 PowerBook running 10.4.7. Yesterday for some reason, some odd OS-level stuff started happening.

Under the apple, the lower menu items are listed twice. For example it looks like:
Restart...
Restart...
Logout
Logout

There are weird boxes around boxes in various programs. For example, there is a box around the back button in Safari.

Any ideas why the comuter is doing this? Any solutions to stop it?

Also, if I log into a different user, it goes away.

Turn off Voice Over in the Universal Access system preferences.

also, check the key command to turn it on (in keyboard prefs); this problem happens a lot to quark users, there's a matching key command.
