Hey all,

I know this may seem an odd thing to do, but I would rather not have to re-rip all of my 500+ CD collection just to have MP3 instead of AAC.

So why would I want to go from AAC to MP3? My new car has a built in MP3 player and it cannot play AAC. I can plug in my iPod, but I am not always going to do that. So I I figured, screw it, I'll just have them all as MP3's ... any recommendations on software that can convert AAC to MP3?

iTunes can do that. Go into the Preferences>Advanced>Importing Tab> and select Import Using: MP3 Encoder.

Then go to your library, select the songs you want to convert, got to the Advance menu > Convert Selection to MP3. Note that this will not delete the old AAC version. You have to do that yourself.

Depending on your machine, be prepared to spend quite a lot of time waiting for it to convert 500+ CDs worth of songs. Faster than re-ripping to be sure, but still quite a task.
