I just tried to empty the trash and came up with this error cannot empty trash because xmlhttp.asp is in use. What is this - I did a goggle search and came up with something about web pages and IE. Sorry I'm not into the coding genre so they might as well been talking in Chinese.

Im not sure if it came from a program or which one - since I dont empty the trash very often.

What is this and how do I get rid of it?

To help you find out which program is using that file, check out the tip in this article:

Are you using Internet Explorer?

And if so: In God's name, why?

Dude that's plain insulting. Last time I used IE was when Clinton was president and I thought a Pismo G3 was a smoking machine.

It's not a program, it's a file. The trash does not empty when a file in it is still in use. Close all programs or log out to make sure the file is no longer in use and then try again.

What I don't like is that the term 'still in use' also applies to e.g. the file 'whatever.jpg' that is no longer opened -since it has been moved to the Trash- and its only current use status is being listed at Preview's "Open Recent" File menu. I have to clear such list or to close the app to be able to empty the Trash. Annoying.
