Would you care to rephrase that one more time? I had to read it three times before I understood what you were trying to say.

Sorry oreo. IN spotlight I typed in a single word "editor"

then got results all over the place: editorial, etc. lots of similar things. anyway to narrow to just exactly that word?

you can type in the kind, hopefully it will be better in leopard. for example in tiger you can type

"mail:editor" and it will only return mail results

The correct syntax would be "editor kind:mail". And if you want to disable fuzzy matching, put the word in quotes. For example "editor" kind:mail would find the word "editor" (but not "editorial" or…er…"editoracious") in mail messages.
