Is this built into the OS? I'm on 10.3.9 and all of the ZIP files I either download or create myself are defaulted as Stuffit files. Always have been.
A search for BOMArchiveHelper on the HD comes up empty. In fact, if I try to re-associate a .zip file (either by using "Open with..." of via the Get Info) BOMArchiveHelper is never listed anywhere. There is a .plist preference file for it, indicating it, at least, used to exist on my Mac, but that's as much as I can find.

I don't have my Mac here, but I think it's in /System/Library/CoreServices.

Why, yes it is. Odd that a search doesn't show that.
Thanks!

Not particularly. Things in /System are generally Best Left Alone Unless You Know What You're Doing.
And in those situations, you're generally not relying on Finder for your only view of the filesystem.

Search doesn't normally search /System, since it includes a huge number of files and none you're supposed to mess with. It would just spam the results window.
