Hi there,

I've searched the OSX forum but haven't found any error reoprts that are exactly like the one I got. The startup error occured after I had normaly shut down my computer for the night by clicking the finder and selecting shut down. My machine appeared to have shut down correctly, however this morning when I started it up I got an error message saying something like 'your computer was shut down unexpectedly'. These startups do not occur very frequently, probably once every 3 weeks (about 21 startups?).

Anyway, could anyone help me decifer this error report? thanks in advance:

Well, for one thing, there's no reason to be shutting down your mac every night. Just put it to sleep and save yourself the time of it booting. It'll take care of itself without constant reboots.

I think you may be experiencing a hardware problem. Try running the hardware diagnostic that came with your computer. Try removing RAM modules one at a time to see if that helps.

do you have any thing in your PCI slots. the kernel panic (technical name for your error) points to that.

I just purchased my macbook last month and I haven't installed any PCI cards. I checked the "about this mac" in the finder and indeed it says no PCI cards have been installed. Is this likely a serious hardware problem or just something that happens from time to time?
