every time i try to empty the trash it says "Localized.rsrc can not be deleted because its in use" .

sometimes all of my desktop files will disappear then reappear.

Help please!!

Try going to Finder> secure empty trash

It does not sound good that your desktop icons are disappearing on you. I'd go to Disk Warrior.
