Hi all.

I have recently bee customising my MBP (nothing major, simply changing icons... and making my desktop icons larger... no skinning or themes or anything) - I only mention that because that was what I was doing just prior to having my issue.

When I download anything to my desktop - either with safari or firefox... it does not appear until after a reboot. With safari I get the usual icon for unrecognised files... however upon completion of the download it continues to look like that and when I click on the icon it actually disappears!

Please help! This is a pretty major problem for me...

Try trashing the Finder preferences.
