I suspect this topic has come up before, but a search didn't reveal anything applicable...

Somehow, probably via an application install, an empty Applications folder was created in my home directory. I suspect an application installation created it, but I had been in the midst of installing lots of software as I had just gotten my MacBook (and 160 GB HD!).

Trivial issue, but was just curious if anyone else had this happen. I simply deleted the folder without any issues.

Technically, this is part of the Mac OS X standard folder structure. It's there in case you want to install applications which only you can use. When the system looks for applications or services, that's one of the places it looks. I don't think it causes any problems if you delete it, but it might reappear.

Never thought about that Barney, I've never installed apps that only I could use. Will have to see if it reappears.

Back before I got my own laptop, I used that folder for all my geeky haxx0r junk instead of stuffing it in the main Applications folder and making my family's heads explode.

Good idea Chuck! My wife often gets perplexed when popping up the Apps folder (I keep it in the Dock)...

I know that I got one of those when I installed Crossover Mac, though YMMV.
