Since we've seen how much trouble it's been for Apple to upgrade iTunes to 7.0 . . . i think i wouldn't mind waiting at least 3 months before getting the new leopard system! (that's only if my will power is strong is enough . . oh how i pray it will be)

Huh? Trouble for Apple to upgrade iTunes to V7? Its not that bad at all. That would make you wait 3 MONTHS before installing Leopard? Get a grip..
I'll install it as soon as I can. I did with 10.3 and had no issues, I did it with 10.4 and also had no issues, and i'll do it again with 10.5 and again I expect there will be no real issues.
And while im here, I have no issues with iTunes v7 either.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

Either the time it takes to wait in line or the time it takes to get a new machine with it pre-installed. Of course taking the latter road means resisting the temptation to take the former in the meantime ... that will be difficult.

As long as it takes for my on-campus bookstore to get copies. Unless that takes too long, in which case however long it takes for Apple to deliver it to me.

If they signifigantly improve the GUI and Spotlight, I'll grab it as soon as I can. If not, I'll be in no hurry at all. Maybe not even until I buy a new machine in a couple of years.

I'll probably install it as soon as I get it which will be as soon as it's shipping. I mean really by then I won't really NEED my machine for anytyhing mission critical so even if there are some major bugs I"ll have a back up.

I'll be buying it the day it's released and rushing home to install it. I work from home, so I'll probably be one of the first in the door at my local Apple store that morning to pick up my copy. The store isn't terribly high-traffic, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Depends on how long it takes Apple to ship my copy
I've been using every version of OS X since the Public Beta and I've never run into any problems as an early adopter.

Actually iTunes 7 has transformed my faith from blind to cautious. Whereas before I would have ordered Leopard asap, now I'll find out what others have to say about it first.

I've only installed iTunes 7 on a machine that was destined to be erased. My two main desktop machines are still on iTunes 6. I will probably install iTunes 7 on my laptop to play around with it some more.

Usually when a new version of Mac OS X comes out, I install it on my laptop (unless I have a presentation coming up or something). If it's stable and all my peripherals as well as all my important software are supported, then I install it on my other machines as well. If not, then I wait.

iTunes has a whole history of borked upgrades... which was it, 3 or 4 I think, that erased peoples home directories?

It was iTunes 2, and it erased entire drives.

I'll likely buy it the day it comes out. There's an Apple store (Christiana Mall, Newark, DE) about 2 minutes from where I work.

work computer - 2-3 weeks just to be safe

I also have had no issues with iTunes 7. Obviously other people hare having some issues (a vocal minority)... but on my three systems, I've had no issues.

Hmm... I have installed iTunes 7 on 4 computers, a Powerbook G4, iMac flat panel, 24 " Core 2 Duo iMac, and last but least a Dell. Runs pretty slick on all platforms, ntf.. I will most likely pre-order Leopard as I did with Tiger..

I'm already using it
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

No, not really... I mean, you are using it, but not at its full potency. You will want to unload that and get the full, unencumbered with debug code version. I've been told by my source that it will be snappier that way.

Once it's released, the developer builds will automatically switch to "release mode" and the debug code will disappear. My source at Apple told me.

Heh.

Actually, you are correct. This version is pretty un-snappy

Using it as my primary OS for a few days (haven't unpacked my other computer yet) really hilights that. Safari is the worst culprit. Using a 1ghz powerbook probably doesn't help either.

If they offered pre-orders I'd be there. Hell, I installed mac OS X beta on my production machine - since I has already installed the developer previews it wasn't so bad.

Never really had any issues with Mac OS upgrades. Would be funny if people lost all of their data right before installing the OS with automatic back ups though. By funny I mean sad, very very sad.

I am looking forward to the improved intel support for my new mac pro. Should be quite snappy indeed
