Hi,

Does anyone know how to compile php5 on a G5 (i.e. a 64 bit cpu)? I've installed Apache 2 and MySQL fine without passing any 64 bit configuration options to the configure script, but php5 and the modules I try to enable in it does not build. Everything keeps saying stuff about incorrect signedness or something. I tried using this configure line:

% ./configure \
% --prefix=/apache2/php \
% --with-zlib \
% --with-xml \
% --with-ldap=/usr \
% --enable-cli \
% --with-zlib-dir=/usr \
% --enable-exif \
% --enable-ftp \
% --enable-mbstring \
% --enable-mbregex \
% --enable-dbx \
% --enable-sockets \
% --with-iodbc=/usr \
% --with-curl=/usr \
% --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql \
% --with-apxs2=/apache2/bin/apxs

Any help is much appreciated!

Please post in the Unix forum next time. BTW, have you tried fink and/or Darwin Ports?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Oh, sorry.. I didn't know if I should put it in UNIX or Web dev, so I stuck it in OS X, thinking it was like a general forum.

I have not tried either of those, because I like doing things by hand.

I figured it out - it has nothing to do with the G5.. it's a bug in gcc 4.0.1. I used gcc4.0.0 and it worked.

Thanks!
