I think I'm in the right forum, if not move please.
For some reason a network user has appeared on the users list at login. Its called "Other..." with a man with the .Mac logo in the background. Why has this appered? Can I turn it off? I have no servers on my network only a iMac G5 (mom's mac).
Help would be appreciated.

Did you enable the root user?
If not, you may have installed some software that created a new user (not necessarily one with a home directory)... A lot of Unix services run under their own username, have you installed anything Unixey?

I have the root user disabled, I have no Unix stuff installed (sense I have no idea how to use Unix).
Its not a native user, as in it wants you to type your name and password. At school this is the icon that appears when you log into a user on a server. This might be a network question...

Is this happening on a network with a OS Xserver? Cuz one of the cool features of the Xserver is home directories that live on the server, not the actual desktop Mac. And the server announces that feature by offering up the "Other" option at log on.

Read the posts above. The only computers, etc. on my network are a iMac G5 (my mom's computer), a MacBook (my computer), a iBook G4, and a Dell. No OS X Severs on my network.

C.A.T.S. CEO,
Something created a new username for you. This is not a problem, as nobody will be able to login to this username unless there was a home directory and password set up for it.
If you are really interested to know what username was setup, you can look in NetInfo Manager, or possibly look at the contents of /etc/passwd.
