I've been using Windows for a VERY long time however, after almost six months of MacBook Pro, I am now ready to ditch my home PC and get a Mac Pro.

Although I've gotten the basics of OS X, I now need to dive a little deeper into Networking. The Windows PC that is being replaced holds all my music files and pictures that are shared over a network which will still have a couple of Windows PC. How would I go about doing this in OS X? Also, is there a way to sync my music and pictures with my MBP automatically, instaed of manually copying any new files added to my collection on the Mac Pro?

Thanks

I was doing some research on this yesterday because I'm looking to do something similar. I found two apps on versiontracker that may do the job, chronosynch and synk. Though I can't tell you how well they work because I don't have any first hand experience.

Here is what i'm trying to do:

I have a Windows machine which has about 20 GBs of my personal files. I'd like to have these files copied over to my Macbook and be in synch with each other.

So, if I modify some files on my macbook, the modified files will be automatically updated on my PC (and vice-versa) when I connect them through my router. My only concern is... is this possible since my PC is formatted NTFS and my Mac is formatted something else (Whatever it is. Sorry, i'm on my 3rd day of using a Mac)

Also, will there be any other conflicts? Like losing or corrupting files...etc?

Thanks for your response. From what I know, Macs cant WRITE to NTFS (though they can READ from it) so I'm not sure if you'll be able to sync.

I shall give those two apps you mentioned a look- thanks!

What I have done is purchased a small Linksys NAS device that you plug hard drives into. I simply store all of my music and info on that device.

But how do you sync it with your notebook when you're travelling?
