I am having trouble using Apple's installer.app. It started when I tried to update to 10.4.8 on my moms Mac (both user accounts plus a fresh account). At first it would ask for the Admin password but now it doesn't. After clicking continue to start the actual install part (progress bar screen) it just un-expectibly quits. I tried installing Flip4Mac same thing. I then saw something about APE (use it to get Aperture to install on my MDD DP 1.25GHZ) and put the installer in the exclude list. Same thing. On my home system (identical to my moms) I had no problems updating to 10.4.8. Here is the crash log. I've deleted the com.apple.installer.plist repeatedly, but couldn't find the other ones mentioned in the log (apple.framework, apple.installapp, etc), restarted etc. One other thing (on both systems actually) I formatted/clean installed in Sept (same home folders though) so this is really strange.

Looks like APE is still doing its thing there in Thread 2, even though you added Installer to the exclusion list. Try temporarily disabling APE altogether and putting the Application Enhancer framework somewhere outside the Frameworks folder. Then reboot and see if the problem solves itself. If it does, it was APE. If not, it's something else.

Un-installe Application Enhancer and the Insaller.app still is being an PITA. Pulled the installer app from my home system, same thing. Here's what would be sent to Apple if I reported it
