I was just reviewing my system.log (not something I do enough) and noticed the following:

Oct 20 03:15:03 Computer cp: error processing extended attributes: Operation not permitted
Oct 20 03:21:35 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:
Oct 20 03:28:57 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:
Oct 20 03:51:35 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:
Oct 20 04:01:10 Computer cp: error processing extended attributes: Operation not permitted
Oct 20 04:06:36 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:

Oct 20 05:28:58 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:
Oct 20 05:51:35 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:

...

Oct 20 09:01:19 Computer kernel[0]: (7648: ps)tfp: failed on 0:
Oct 20 09:04:14 Computer ntpd[133]: sendto(17.254.0.31): Can't assign requested address
Oct 20 09:06:26 Computer crashdump[7649]: rosetta_5.32_i686-apple-darwin crashed

Oct 20 09:07:40 Computer kernel[0]: (64: coreservicesd)tfp: failed on 0:

Are all of these failures bad? What do they mean? I just installed Boinc Rosetta and noticed that in one of the lines. Any ideas?

Are you having any particular problems? It's best to look to these logs to diagnose specific problems, rather than to look at them to be preemptive about solving future problems.

The Rosetta the log is referring to is not BOINC Rosetta, it's Apple's Rosetta emulation environment for running PPC apps on Intel.

However, BOINC Rosetta may be PPC, in which case it may be using Apple's Rosetta. Are any apps quitting when this happens?

My system.log is filled with entries like that too, but I'm not having any problems and I don't worry about it. There are lots of things in there that I don't understand, but don't really matter.
