Hi,

In Windows, (please don't hate me, its not my computer), you can select many files and folders like in mac, but in windows you can rename multiple items at once. Example:

I have 37 Pictures of Cars, I select them all, I rename the first one Cars, the other 36 pictures get renamed like this: Cars (1), Cars (2), Cars (3), etc. Is there something like this in OS X with the same principle?

It's easy to do this with the Automator. See:

Apple - Mac OS X - Theater - Automator

If you do this often, you can make it a Finder plug-in so that you don't have to open Automator every time. The following website discusses how to do all of this:

If you have to rename files often, you should look at:

It's not free, however.

I use an applescript I wrote. I take my digital camera files (DSC0001.jpg...DSC0002.jpg) and name them summer pool 01, summer pool 02, summer pool 03, christmas 01, christmas 02 etc. I also have another script that can add the year to the front of the file name. ie zoo_01.jpg becomes 2006 zoo_01.jpg.

I love applescript. automator is cool too.
