cheers!
I've searched apple.com and google.com for references to this phenomenom with no luck...
If I'm not mistaken, the Dock is always centered regardless of its position on screen, however mine is left justified at the bottom position, and top justified at the left and right positions.
left
bottom
right
I am not using any Dock utilities. Does anyone know how/why this happened and how to regain the default centered position? Or is this a new 10.4.8 default?
I've repaired permissions in vain and safe-booted to check and repair the file system then booted normally and the problem persists.
Thank you in advance for your help.

put this in the terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Dock pinning middle
and press return.
Then type in:
killall Dock //Notice the capital letter
then youre fixed

thanks,
what would be the terminal markup for other available "pinnings"... do you replace "middle" with "left" or "right?" I remedied my problem by deleting com.apple.dock.plist from my home/library/preferences and upon restarting a funny broken icon (question mark) appeared labeled "iMovie." odd bc 10.4.7 never shipped with it and I've never installed it. yes, it is distinct from iMovieHD, which does belong on the default Dock.
thanks again

I thought it was "start" and "end"

Get the free and simple TinkerTool and forget about start, end, middle, etc. as well as command line entries.
