Hi, guys! I just installed a new 500GB HD, and I'd like to use it to store all my multimedia files. How do I point my Music, Movies, and Pictures folders to a different location, so that when I click the icon in the left-hand side of the finder window, I'm taken to the corresponding folder on the new drive? Thanks very much for any help!
Rob

Just drag the old ones out of the sidebar, and drag the new folders from their new spot into the sidebar. Now, getting those new places to work with programs like iTunes and iPhoto is a few more steps (and I'm sure have been discussed in the Applications forum), but if you're just dealing with files in the Finder then this is fine.

Get info on your old Music folder (click it once and Get Info from File menu). Click the Music icon near the top of the window and Copy. Now get info on your new Music folder, click its folder icon and paste.
You may need to re-add them to your sidebar for the icons to update.

One more question... Using the music folder as an example, is there any way to keep just the note icon in the left-hand panel, rather than the note on the folder? Thanks!

no. that music note is related to the folder in your home folder so it won't change.
