I've been trying to install bootcamp and it's driving me nuts. Everytime I try to partition my drive, it fails and tells me there are unmovable files. I deleted all my parallels stuff as some people reported that being the problem, and yet I still cant partition. I have 45 gigs free. Is there any way I can figure out which files are marked as unmovable?

Thanks!

I cleared more space, and now have 60 free gigs of space, and I can't make a 6 gig windows partition...

This is infuriating. I have 83 gigs free now, and its still not working. Am I just supposed to randomly delete files to see which one is the problem?

You could try to reboot since one kind of files that I would assume could be non-movable are swap files.

I have rebooted multiple times, run all disc maintenance routines, found the intel beta of applejack to fix a HD error, and it is still not working. It seems based of a few other reports I can find that I need to defrag using idefrag or some such program, but they all seem to cost money

You can always manually defrag by cloning to a disk image onto an external disk and then restoring to the internal disk with the erasing option on in Disk Utility.

You have backed up your drive haven't you? If you haven't you shouldn't even be thinking of using Boot Camp to partition your drive as you could very easily lose all your data. If you have backed up, why not start from scratch with a fresh install?
