Hello, I just got an IBook (the green and white one) from a friend of mine. The trouble i'm having is that when I turn it on, it comes to a gray screen with a small image of a folder flashing a question mark and the Mac logo. I've done some searching and I believe i need startup disk (which was NOT given to me) Can anyone help me either find a start up disk or how to fix my boot problem please? Thank you

unless your friend erased the hard drive before he gave it to you, the hard drive could be bad and need to be replaced.

Legally? No. But install cds/dvds come with every Mac, so just ask him to give them to you.

Plus, you should think of a more suitable title!

Apple does sell OS X 10.4. You can get previous versions for less (although I would recommend 10.3 or higher).

If you are a member of local Apples users group, I think they can legally distribute OS 9.2....
