I tried to install reinstall my OS (10.0 to 10.2 full CD) but OS 10.0 CD doesn't startup. I held down "C" and selected it in "startup disk"in preferences as root.

What to do? (currently have 10.4)

Powerbook 1ghz 17" (dvd drive). Maybe I have to use disk utility to format hard drive on startup as root?

You selected the CD as startup in the root account? Don't do that, it's completely unnecessary and silly. Why are you trying to boot from a 10.0 disc? Your PB came out long after that 10.0 disc. And to my knowledge, there never was a 10.2 upgrade disc.

You should be running 10.3 at the very least.

The 17" 1Ghz required at least 10.2.4 or later on the machines, so make sure you have that disc. Otherwise, 10.3 may be the better option.

What? You do not have to reinstall everything just because there is some error when you empty the trash!! What error message do you get?
